Frequently Asked Questions

Do we need to bring our own water and bowls?
Unless your canine companion doesn't like to share with others, there will be plenty of water stations throughout the park. However, you can certainly bring your own water and bowls if you prefer.

If you don't get pledges, can you just sponsor yourself for the $25.00?
In order to qualify for the free t-shirt and goodie bag, you can certainly sponsor yourself for $25 if you are not able to solicit pledges from others. However, keep in mind that there are prizes for the top 3 pledge collectors!

Do you bring the pledges as cash and/or checks that day?
It is best if all hikers, including those that pre-registered, bring their pledges to the registration table on the day of the hike.

Who should checks be made payable to?
Please have all checks made payable to The Alliance of Northern Breed Rescues.

Is there a prize for the fastest hikers?
Hikers can complete the hike as quickly or as slowly as they choose. There are no prizes for the fastest hiker(s).

Do people bring food or are there food vendors?
On the day of the event, the Alliance will be offering a select menu of food and beverage items for sale. Check back soon for a full menu of items that will be available during Hike N Howl 2009.

Is there a dog park where the dogs can run while you eat?
Unfortunately, there is not a fenced dog area at the Park. However, you will be able to flag down an Alliance volunteer that would be more than happy to hold your dog for you while you enjoy your food.

Can people crate their dogs while they eat?
Each of the hosting rescues (Del Val Siberian Husky Rescue and MaPaw Siberian Husky Rescue) will have several extra crates available behind each of their tables. Stop by either table on your way to the food area and we'd be happy to keep an eye on your canine companion while you grab a bite to eat.

How long do most people stay?
Some people are only able to participate in the hike and leave shortly after. However, we encourage all of our hikers to stay for the day as there are events planned throughout the day. There are many rescues to visit as well as vendors showcasing and/or selling their products. We have raffle basket drawings in the afternoon. Fun canine contests and exciting demonstrations will be taking place throughout the day.

Do I need to be present for the raffle drawing or 50/50 to be a winner?
We do require that winners of any raffle baskets or the 50/50 be present in order to claim their prize.
